Join a growing and influential Institutional Research and Effectiveness, Business Intelligence team to provide expert leadership to translate institutional goals, objectives and information requirements into robust Data Warehouse/Business Intelligence solutions that are scalable and address current needs while remaining flexible and extensible to adapt to future needs and requirements. This role will also support data stewardship initiatives intended to make University of Delaware a data-informed institution by establishing the framework for data quality and reliability to support decision-making.
The Senior Data Architect is the primary point of contact and coordinator between IRE and IT for the design, construction and support of the data warehouse and supports the development and implementation of a campus-wide business intelligence/decision support system directed at meeting the management and information needs of academic and administrative units across campus. This functional role works closely with subject matter experts, database administrators, college business officers, and other clients to understand business requirements and translate these into the technical foundations to support the analytics initiative, providing data architecture and design expertise in both developmental projects and day to day support of Enterprise Data Warehousing, Data Marts, Dashboards, Infographics, and future data information systems.
Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree with five years of job related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Degree in computer science, computer engineering or a related field preferred. Required experience includes: data modeling, and knowledge of relational and dimensional data modeling (such as star schemas, snowflakes, normalized and de-normalized models) and handling Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCD) and attributes. Demonstrated technical proficiency with application integration/server, database management system, and development environment software is required, as is experience with agile methodologies, ERP, data modeling tools and ETL, understanding of data visualization, dashboard and infographic tools . Successful candidates will have the ability to document and present solutions and designs to support the project life cycle, then maintain the documentation as living artifacts to describe how the system works to fulfill the business need. Effective communication and collaboration skills are necessary.
