The Opportunity


Coordinates Customer Insights data management and governance activities across affected customer-facing business areas, Technology, and Marketing. Leads the analysis and documentation of the Metadata, Data Lineage and Data Quality for all data elements under the Enterprise Platform for Insights on Customers (EPIC) data warehouse.


Position Responsibilities


Serve as a Data Steward for Marketing in Data Governance efforts to ensure Bank data (EPIC and otherwise) is defined and monitored as per the six principles of M&Ts Enterprise Data Management Policy and that they are adhered to in the future state


Partner with internal Data Analysts/Data Scientists to integrate and implement Business Intelligence & Advanced Analytics tools with the data necessary to meet their needs. Effectively manage internal relationships with stakeholders to gain acceptance Bankwide.


Coordinate data additions or retirements to the EPIC data environment through Data Governance policies and procedures and ensure its ongoing maintenance and health


Provide ongoing technical/architectural/data guidance to Marketing/Office of Customer Advocate for any and all tactical/strategic programs and campaigns, both for Sales and Service purposes


Adhere to applicable compliance/operational risk controls in accordance with Company or regulatory standards and policies.


Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.


Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

Nature And Scope


The Customer Insights team consults with and delivers customer outreach and analysis across the M&T and Wilmington Trust brands. This role supports these efforts to:


Accelerate identification and acquisition of primary bank and wealth relationships and cross-sell opportunities by leveraging our investments in newly centralized customer data via the Enterprise Platform for Insights on Customers (EPIC)


Maximize the value of each sales and service opportunity by creating and leveraging insight into the full range of customer interactions across branches/offices, phone, mail, e-mail, text message, websites, mobile apps and more


Reduce and minimize the need for the costly, duplicative customer data identification, aggregation and movement activities taking place across business areas


Managerial/Supervisory Responsibility




Minimum Qualifications Required


Bachelors degree in an applicable field or in lieu of a degree 4 years equivalent in experience


3 years experience with analysis and data governance specifically in aggregating data from disparate sources (internal systems, external feeds, the web, etc.) ideally with customer information


High energy, with the ability to energize others and excite them about data and its importance for the future


Proven success in simplifying and communicating complex data issues/opportunities to unfamiliar audiences such that they can understand and take action


Proven ability to form relationships throughout an organization and work collaboratively to solve data challenges


Ideal Qualifications Preferred


Marketing experience within Financial Services


Masters of Business Administration (MBA) or other applicable Masters degree


Strong skills in facilitation, documentation, organization, and communication


Results oriented, ability to work independently under tight deadlines
