Job Summary Statement: As a member of the IT Services Information & Data Strategy Team, the Data Warehouse Architect will be responsible for the analysis, design and deployment of the Operational Data Store (ODS) and data marts for the implementation of UCLA's next generation Student Information System (SIS). Major responsibilities include working collaboratively with functional and technical analysts and subject matter experts to gather business requirements for the design and development and deployment of data models and design specifications using star schema techniques; analyze and create Extract-Transform-Load (ETL) specifications; collaborate with Business Intelligence Analysts, conduct system performance analysis and problem resolution. The Data Warehouse Architect will develop and oversee data warehouse specific project plans, comprehensive testing of system to ensure data integrity and ensuring effective alignment of business requirements with technical solutions.

Qualifications for Position

  Qualifications Required/Preferred
  Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline OR five years (or more) of equivalent experience. Required
  Five or more years demonstrated experience in database management, application development or systems engineering. Required
  Demonstrated experience integrating in data management practices and principals into life-cycle. Required
  Possess broad and deep technical skills with various operating systems, databases, protocols and programming languages to evaluate highly complex systems or applications. Required
  Experience applying modern data management frameworks and methods. Required
  Possess the verbal and written communication skills to work effectively with technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization; ability to use standard English grammar and punctuation. Required
  Demonstrated knowledge of Kimball Lifecycle Methodology for Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence solutions. Required
  Experience using SQL Server including knowledge with associated architecture, tools and security. Required
  Advanced skill in creating indexes, aggregations and stored procedures suing SQL programming and data analytics. Required
  Advanced skill in developing Extract-Transform-Load (ETL) specifications. Required
  Experience working within a higher-education information technology organization with emphasis on Data Warehousing. Preferred
