What Part Will You Play?

The Data Analyst will be responsible for leading the definition and development of applications, interfacing closely with clients to identify needs and translate business requirements into technical specifications.  Provides technical advice, based on broad experience in a field of authority, facilitating resource planning, determining technical direction and strategy.
 
  • Work with clients and process owners to translate business requirements into technical specifications; establish and define details, definitions, and requirements of applications, components and enhancements.
  • Generate design, development and test plans, detailed functional specifications documents, user interface design, and process flow charts for execution of programming.
  • Participate in project planning; identifying milestones, deliverables and resource requirements; tracks activities and task execution. Provide technical direction and support to the project manager.
  • Work with clients fielding inquiries and researching solutions; perform subsequent minor maintenance and enhancements on current systems.
  • Follow established SDLC methodologies, identifying areas for improvement and participating in their refinement.
  • Seek to achieve and apply defined Best Practices.
  • Document results of work and prepares technical reports on significant results, presents to director and vice president levels and to corporate management.
  • Perform specialized programming to support development projects.
  • Maintain current knowledge of technical changes, advancements and/or improvements within assigned area or discipline, incorporating these improvements where applicable.
  • Developing and supporting business intelligence reports using MicroStrategy in Teradata environment.
  • Ability to understand business requirements/rules and assist users in developing ad-hoc queries/reports against Teradata data warehouse.
 
What Do We Require From You?
 
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Business Management or specialized training/certification and/ or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience in designing and developing MicroStrategy reports in MicroStrategy 10.3 or greater.
  • Experience in performing administration functions in MicroStrategy environment.
  • Experience and understanding of data warehousing methodologies (Teradata, Oracle), data modeling and associated reporting strategies.
  • Must have strong SQL skills.
  • Able to guide business users in ad hoc analysis on Business Objects and/or MicroStrategy.
  • Oracle PL/SQL, Retail data warehousing, Retail EDI, Retail experience, Home Entertainment or Music experience a plus.
 
Bonus Points for?
 
  • In-depth knowledge of the Media & Entertainment industry and multiple business functional areas (Home Entertainment Category Management) is a plus.
  • Experience with Hive, Spark, Scala is a plus.
  • Experience with R is a plus.
