Description:  The Senior Data and Business Analyst will work with Enterprise Data Steward, key business, and systems resources to evaluate the definitions, processes and ownership structure of the enterprise data. The role is responsible for analyzing and understanding the creation, update, transformation and loading of data across the Firm to evaluate data quality, integrity, availability, trustworthiness and data security. This analyst will assist to execute the data stewardship and lineage programs, implement and enforce policy, and assess and coordinate efforts of the Data Stewardship Council. The analyst will participate in many projects and will review business workflows as well as systems functions to complete the analysis that will result in data quality improvements, formalized data stewardship, and data protection. 


• Participating in the Data Stewardship function across the enterprise to uncover the definitions, ownership, and key characteristics of enterprise data. • Become a subject matter expert on the program and be able to define its goals and how to best apply it to data subject areas. • Collect and verify the business definitions of data and determine its context, sourcing and use. Perform quality checks on the information provided to make sure it meets standards defined by the program. • Engage data stewards for each data subject or business area and coordinate them to achieve defined program goals • Develop and maintain data flow lineage for various applications under review. • Set formal standards, policies and processes regarding data stewardship, governance and management • Ensure there is a consistent standard data glossary and data definition for each data subject. • Participate in best practices in regards to the data governance toolset • Work with the Data Quality team to review results of data profiling. Relate the quality issues to process analysis and help to propose changes to policies and procedures that will minimize risk of bad data and to promote the accuracy, validity, reliability, timeliness, relevance and completeness • Identify processes and application that are in conflict with the Firm's enterprise data strategy, vision, roadmap and standards. • Inform business teams of the behavior that is leading to quality issues and collaborate to raise the awareness of the impacts on the organization. • Engage business SMEs to analyze business and systems processes that may have an impact on the data quality. Propose changes to those systems that will result in remediation of the quality challenges. • Create metrics to measure data quality targets and conduct policy reviews to ensure procedures and metrics are effective • Assess business needs and capabilities and interpret results; provide high value and impactful solutions to business opportunities and/or challenges. 

• Bachelors degree in Business, Engineering or Information Systems, or equivalent direct business experience • Prior consulting experience a plus • 5-10 years of experience in business or systems analysis or as a key business resource on systems projects, preferably at a financial institution. • Experience in participating in systems development life cycle • Proven ability to interview, evaluate processes and perform root cause analysis that is leading to data quality issues. • Demonstrated ability to inform, interpret, assess and deliver thorough analysis in both written and verbal form. • Knowledge of managing enterprise data systems, master data, and business critical applications and cross functional reporting. • Previous experience in data management or data governance functions highly desirable.
